Long haul mentality? The annoyance from the fans has mostly been due to the short term view of our chairman. It was he who stated that he has been disapointed with the link up and player offerings of FC Montegnee, despite the deal supposedly put in place to bear fruit in 2-3 years time.

Without buying players, sourcing them from youth teams, local clubs or finding them available with ready made EU permits and language skills from European feeder clubs, City won't have a brand to build in Manningham, let alone Mexico.

And while we’re at it… lets wait four years for the 16 year old goalkeeper we’ll get on loan to come good. Signing players short term thinking? Never!

Talk of City setting up a Mexican link academy will not put any extra bums on seats at VP in the short term - only success on the field will see this happen.

So you cannot blame supporters for preferring to see the current squad bolstered to try and secure promotion in 2009 - to me the Mexico link is worth the visit, especially if someone else is helping towards the costs, but any hope of seeing players arriving from there is way off the mark - given the work permit situations now - I though the Belgian link up with RRFC was more of a longer term strategy anyway? - has someone jumped the gun at City?

Clubs should be made responsible for running up debts, and the points penalty for deviating or "avoidance" of laid down rules should be enforced.

Salary caps dependent on turnover plus personal guarantees against debts / contracts must also play a bigger part in the future of football. The FL's fight to clean up the image of overspending and then leaving creditors heavily out of pocket, (including the taxpayer of course) should be welcomed.
It may be galling to supporters to see the clubs penalised so heavily, but if our clubs are better run financially, then that must be preferable for long term stability - rather than enduring our descent down the leagues for example.

Our club, if succesful in 2 successive promotions in 2009 and 2010, will have taken some 9 years to recover financially from the hangover of premiership relegation and the 6 weeks of madness, plus all else that had a bearing on what happened.

If anything can be done to minimise this happening in the future then that must be welcomed.
