Mark - nice comment about the Sat-Nav! My mate who I sit next to at Valley Parade is a long standing friend of over 20 years. He now lives in Market Weighton. We'd decided not to go to Vale Park as we'd been before on several occasions so decided to go to see North Ferriby United as it's only about a 15 minute drive from my mate's house.

Ian - thank you for your kind words. In terms of the goalkeeping issue, in my eyes he should have been sent off as he was the last man for Kendal Town with a North Ferriby United player closing in on him.

Nice article about the type of footy which goes unheralded up and down the country.

Just a thought about the yellow card for the goalie handling outside the box; much depends on the context. It is a red card only if the ref judges that the goalie was deliberately denying a goal scoring opportunity, yellow in any other circumstances eg dives to collect the ball and momentum takes him and the ball out of the box.

Obviously I wasn't there on this occasion, but I have seen players and fans foaming at the mouth thinking its an automatic red card offence more than once in recent years!

Did you put the wrong postcode in the Sat-Nav?

It does make you wonder if longer term the Premiership is going to be an invite only league - where promotion may not be enough to guarantee clubs a place on the toffs table - the followers of the egg shaped ball see this happening already and long established clubs pushed back down in favour of more media friendly places - professional sport or a step too far?

Indeed, further down the ladder or pyramid clus have to meet standards to gain admittance to the level above - so you can see it coming - "we don't want that club in with us, they only draw crowds of 20,000 and the pennine winds are not to our players liking".
