'So, as we crawl along Canal Road in the rain, past the Polluted Water signs and the galvanising works, buy sweets from a car boot and take in the scent of burgers and coffee that drift down Midland Road,'

I'm sending these lines to my lad who is married and living in Aus now, as we used to make this walk together. It might not bring a cheer to his face but a win in the next fixture certainly would.

This is a question, not a response to the article except in the sense of being literary but I'd like to know the answer and some literate reader might know. Who did JB Priestley support? I've heard the 'uddersfield lot claim him but he was a Bradford lad. Just imagine the old days on the Kop - JB with the chants and Freddie Delius setting them to music. Incredible (literally)!

As the piece was sent prior to the Grimsby game I stayed clear of The Rhyme of the Ancient Marriner in deference to Big Baz.

I'm disappointed you didn't include the "water water everywhere and not a drop to drink" line, considering the youth cup tie has been switched to Crewe because of the pitch at VP!

I keep hearing about "depleted squad" as part of the answer to why we have drawn so many games - yet i look at other teams in this league and the majority have about the same number of players to call on, in the case of Bournemouth several less!

We just need that ruthless edge to bring about the required number of wins to get in amongst the play off chasers - it's up to the manager to work with what he has, Stuart has been well supported by the 2 chairmen in that respect who allowed him to bring in Whaley from under the noses of Rochdale - he's had good financial support during his time as manager and enjoys solid support amongst the fans.

Work in progress it may be, but we need to see an improvement this season, and in my eyes that is quaifying for the play offs (or better we hope!).
