Much as i enjoyed the Crewe game earlier this season,i'd have taken a boring one nil BCFC win everyday of the week.Winning football games is the only way the club can move forward on the pitch and style should only be an added bonus in getting those points.

A good summary of the game by Paul and the match didn't look much different from my vantage point in the press area part of the main stand opposite where the City fans were housed. After the game Peter Taylor was not happy at the performance of the team and he spoke of changes for the Notts County game on Tuesday evening.

I was certanly scratching my head try to work out what formation City would play when I was handed the team sheet. I thought there were too many changes to the team from the one which beat Aldershot 7 days earlier. Omar Daley and Luke O'Brien were dropped in order to give Gavin Grant and Gareth Evans a start. There was one forced change as Bateson replaced the injured Ramsden. Bateson struggled all afternoon to cope with the threat of Pugh and though Grant did have one good chance early on to score, that was just about his only contribution all afternoon. He's been out of the game for a while and it shows. Daley replaced Grant early in the 2nd half when the weather was at its worst and it was no surprise to me that he didn't look interested. I know that Daley has been out for a long time, but when do we ever see Daley put in a shift away from home? Hardly ever.

I agree with Paul's comment about the referee and the penalty incident. the ref seemed overly fussy at times and yet when a blantant shirt pull takes place in what would seem full view, he waves play on. Another ludicrous incident was when Bolder tried to take a freee kick after waiting ages for the Hereford player to move away. To make a point, Bolder took the kick and the ball hit the Hereford player, which prompted the ref to speak to Bolder and not the Hereford player who wouldn't budge?

Later on Taylor made a curious substitution taking Bullock off and putting McCammon on. This became even stranger when Evans was replaced with Kendall which forced McCammon out on to the right wing? We were then treated, if that is the right word, to the sight of the lumbering McCammon attempting to dribble the ball in from the right trying to find a pass to a team mate. As for Kendall, he ran around a lot but I don't think he actually got a touch on the ball. But now that Kendall is at the club, I won't be upset if McCammon is sent back to Gillingham as his loan period in my opinion at the club hasn't been a sucess.

I felt really sorry for the 332 City in the stand opposite who went all the way down to Hereford and who were not rewarded for their effort. It was a dismal and disappointing afternoon all round.

I don't get to many games because of my locality and missed the last visit this way at Cheltenham and regretted it... but I have to say that was one of the worst games of football I have ever seen. City could barely string two passes together and while I accept the weather was foul the touch of the vast majority was non existent. Thank god some kind City fan gave me a free ticket before I paid the £13 to stand and watch that rubbish. If even some of those players are the ones who are going to get us promotion next season then I worry. Oliver and Clarke looked so slow at the back that I fear we will continue to ship goals without some pace. Flynn quite clearly has presence and ability but had a bad day. Hanson was isolated up top and had nobody to feed off his headers. Mcgammon cannot be a long term idea surely, he was awful. Daley looked disinterested which is a shame; he could have been the best player on the pitch by far but should have played the first half not the second!

Taylor, there is a lot of work to do here!!

I think you understate the effect of the wind in the second half. Glennon's kicks weren't reaching the centre circle and it was all too easy for Hereford to ease pressure by hoofing downfield and turning our defenders. I also think we missed Lee Bullock badly when he was tactically substituted in the second half: he has quietly become one of our most important players and will be missed on Tuesday.

However I don't think the manner of the defeat was the most disappointing thing. Instead it's the feeling that we've been here before: a season drifting through shades of anticlimax, with the fans knowing that any number of the players on the field today will not be at the club next season and that there is yet another rebuilding job to be done in the summer. If the loan players we have are actually "on trial" then we should get Threlfall signed up ASAP because he is a classy prospect. The others still have a lot to do.
