Hyde United 0 Bradford City 0 Fans 142

142 people – again none from BfB – saw City draw 0-0 with Hyde United in the penultimate pre-season game with a mostly young City squad being augmented by the likes of Chris Brandon, Peter Thorne and Joe Colbeck.

Worth note is the Hyde United number nine Paul Gedman. Gedman was a student who was looking for a contract in professional football some eight years ago when he was on trial at Bradford City.

Gedman joined the squad that included the likes of David Wetherall for the Summer that followed City’s second season after relegation from the Premiership.

While Gedman was at the club there was a strike – so to speak – by a large chunk of the City squad because it seemed that they day after the club would go out of business.

Almost all the senior professionals refused to play in the game which saw the Bantams travel to play Hull City – then at the wrong end of the bottom league – with whoever was prepared to put on a shirt.

BfB’s match report on the day was called Is This What The End Feels Like? It was Bradford City’s longest night.

Paul Gedman played in that game. Thank you Paul.
